Former MLGW Employee Charged with Scamming Customers
MEMPHIS, Tenn. A former MLGW employee has been charged with scamming utility customers, and is accused of defrauding thousands of dollars from the company. As FOX13's April Norris reports, one customer is preparing to sue. If you think you've been scammed, call the Victim Hotline at 901-321-6954.

Story Abandoned By Thugeass Assgustus Mut-thews
Police Officer Gives His/Her Accounting Of Yesterday's Shooting Stating That Records Will Show The Officer Fired His Gun By Accident
On yesterday afternoon at the Raleigh Quik Stop #2 on Ridgemont a fist fight between alleged gang members broke out and then turned to gunfire. Witnesses state that and argument broke out between males in a black Jeep Cherokee and a gray Lincoln. It's believe this incident is a carry over between several gangs. Several of the men were wearing orange bandannas which represent gang colors.
Witnesses at the scene saw one of the males involved in the fight go to the car and pull out a gun. Witnesses also state that at least 10-15 shots were fired. The manager of the store flagged down a lone police officer after the two cars took off from the scene. The officer caught up with the Lincoln down the street where one of the men was shot.
A Memphis Police Officer sent me an email stating that when the officer fired the shot that he was not compliant with state laws and that the MPD will cover up the true facts of the shooting. here is the email that was sent. The email address has been removed to protect the officer's ID.
I'm sure you are aware of the officer involved shooting at Ridgemont and New Allen. What the Police dept isn't telling you is that the officer was not compliant with State Laws and Department regulations in firing his shot. First, the suspect that was shot was not armed at the time of the shooting and as witnesses on scene stated the suspect actually had his arms in the air, holding nothing, when he was shot.
The Officer involved admitted to detectives on scene that he had his weapon in one hand and was attempting to cut off the sirens to his squad car with his other hand when he accidentally fired the shot. Second, on the way to the scene of the shooting, I and all other officers, can clearly hear the officer asking the suspect "..what were you reaching for then?" while he was keyed up on the radio. It turns out the suspect was reaching for a cell phone. Obviously, this was recorded and is at 201 Poplar. Also, all the weapons recovered on scene were on the ground on the passenger side of the vehicle; however, the suspect was shot on the drivers side. Nowhere near a weapon.
Third, officers are trained that if they see a threat to "engage" it and to keep firing until the threat is neutralized. At the range we are trained to shoot three rounds in three seconds. This is because we are trained that if we are authorized to use deadly force that we are to fire until the suspect is down and no longer a threat. Also we are trained to shoot center mass, in the chest. The one stray shoot into the suspects leg can be further proof that the shot was accidental and that the officer was not authorized to shoot. I am sure that the department is covering this up, but everything I told you is recorded and is public information.

We all know that the real reason that Thug 'abanddoned' this story is because he and the officer were good friends.
I went and found the story so I could re-post it here for all to comment on. Sure I know it is old news, but I don't ever remember hearing about it, so I just wanted to find out about it.

Memphis Attorney DISBARRED
Violated Rules of Proffessional Conduct
MEMPHIS, TN - A local attorney has been disbarred by Order of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
According to the Professional Responsibility, William Anthony Helm had at least 23 complaints of misconduct filed against him. Upon investigation of those complaints, the Board found that Helm violated the rules of misconduct by failing to appear or perform on behalf of clients, failing to refund fees to clients, misappropriating funds, abandoning his law practice, failing to withdraw and provide adequate notice to clients of his temporary suspension, and by failing to update in writing his address changes with the Board.
Helm was ordered to pay the costs of the disciplinary proceedings and he is not allowed to practice until his law license has been reinstated.

Most of the people that I have spoken to about this show have stated that the 'First 48' is not a discredit to Memphis, TN. The popular show discloses the ugly side of Memphis,TN when it comes to the increasing volume of violent crimes; however, it is also a positive factor in how our law enforcement officers of Memphis, TN SOLVE these crimes.

Memphis city leaders pull city out of show, saying it shows a bad image of the city of Memphis are police front and center in A&E's police documentary 'First 48.' The investigate cases and question suspects.
Rick Cail is a huge fan. So when city leaders pulled the plug on Memphis' part in the show, Rick got busy drawing up a petition.
"It started off with 20 or 30 signatures and just kinda grew. I've been getting emails from all across the country." says Cail.
There are now more than 800 signatures.
Plenty of people say the show shows another side of the police department.
"It has a solve rate of 87 percent. I think that says something positive about what they're doing. They are getting the job done and they are reacting to it and dealing with the situation." says Cail.
City leaders say First 48 does nothing to help Memphis' image.
Not everyone agrees.
"It's not a bad image really. It's what's going on in your city you know." says Rod Hopson of St. Louis.
"It shows basically from the first time the crime happens until they solve it. It's very interesting for people who know nothing about how crimes are solved." says Tina Phelan of Germantown.
Rick Cail is hoping city leaders will change their mind.
In a few days he plans to take his petition to city hall.
"I've actually been asked by some people on email to pick a date and have a show of force at a city council meeting and present it at that time." says Cail.
First 48 has also indicated it's interested in working with the city council to keep Memphis on the show.
Right now there are just a few more episodes left that include MPD.
